On October 31st and November 1st, The Eastern Forum of Science and Technology Forum was co-chaired by China-UK Low Carbon Dean Professor Zhao Changying, and by Professor Ruan Xin of Shanghai Jiao Tong University. The forum had as the main topic "The Symposium on Advanced Strategies for Low-Carbon Urban Development Based on Smart Energy" and was sponsored by Shanghai Municipal People's Government，Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering. The symposium had the participation of some of the most prestigious Chinese academicians of the field such as Professor Wong Shilie from Shanghai Jiaotong University, Professor Tao Wenquan and Guo Jinlie from Xi’an Jiaotong University, and over 60 experts and scholars from universities and scientific research institutes across China. During the 2 days, the experts and scholars have actively expounded and shared their research or views on the themes of advanced energy storage technology, smart energy systems, and low-carbon urban planning and design. This activity has greatly promoted the cross-integration of low-carbon urban development and the innovation of technology clusters from the perspective of scientific researchers and provided a reference for the layout of basic research projects in Shanghai.
